Elevation Uncoupled ~ An irregular name for irregular coins

You won’t find any traditional, circular or cartoon character challenge coins here. 'Elevation Uncoupled' specializes in top quality, irregular shaped, professionally themed coins for the Marine Corps & Army - with high regard to detail, depth and uniqueness that sets us apart.

Our goal is to provide Marine Corps & Army ground-combat-element communities with one of a kind pieces that not only embody the esprit de corps from those currently serving but also brings about overwhelming nostalgia to those that once lead the way.

 

What’s with the name?

I wanted a name that was recognizable by anyone who has served as a tanker on the M1 Abrams platform. 

The term “elevation uncouple” derives from tank terminology and is a setting the main gun can be placed in when conducting firing operations. When set to safe in this mode, the gun is disconnected - or uncoupled - from the sights and the gunner’s ability to move the gun up or down is deactivated. The main gun locks itself to zero elevation, enabling the loader to safely load a round while the gunner continues to track and scan for targets. Once the loader arms the gun, elevation is coupled back and the gun immediately jumps to whatever the gunner is sighted on, thus allowing him instant availability to engage a target.

Outside the box, irregular thinking is what brought about EL UNCPL mode. I always thought the complexities built into it were awesome. It combined the ability to maximize lethality while not compromising safety.

In the coin world, the term “irregular” generally means non-circular or doesn’t comply with a standard shape. The idea behind irregularly shaped coins is not entirely new, however making specialized custom designs easily available to large Marine Corps & Army ground communities is what I strive to accomplish.

Aviation and naval coins have long been touted to be the status quo for growth within military coining. We here, are uncoupled from that mainstream idea. We are ‘Elevation Uncoupled’ because we combine the ability to branch away from the ‘norm’ and maximize irregularity, while not compromising focus towards our target audience.
